European Press Reactions: Blaming Charlton Heston - International - SPIEGEL ONLINE - News: "German daily Bild writes:
'Now we will probably begin discussing the overly lax gun laws in the United States. There, buying a machine gun is often easier than getting a driver's license."
Uh, machine guns have been illegal in the U.S. since 1932. Is there an editor? Does anyone check facts? And besides, if the killer had used a machine gun the death total would be smaller, not larger. He would have fired a shower of ammo in about 2 seconds and been out of ammo. None of those shots would have been aimed- it's just a spray of lead. Even the military uses full auto sparingly- just for suppressing fire. Aiming is more effective.
