ADHD Spotlight:
"People with ADHD take their problems with attention for granted. “It’s just the way I am…. It’s just the way my brain works….. I’m stuck with it.”
It ain’t necesssarily so. According to a study published yesterday in the online edition of PloS Biology,* persons trained in meditation can learn to pay attention better. When they meditate, people sit quietly and concentrate on their breathing. As air swooshes in and out of their nostrils they attend to each sensation, mentally counting from 4-6. As thoughts, inevitably, enter their mind, they let them go. Breathe, let go. Breathe, let go."
